Will Newspaper Readers Pay the Freight for Survival?

Gordon Crovitz, former publisher of The Wall Street Journal, stated in a keynote speech at the conference that "everybody has the opportunity to make money from readers if their journalism is distinctive enough." He cited a study by The Boston Consulting Group noting that 48% of online readers said they would pay for access to their favorite sites, although they weren't willing to pay much.
