Time for newspapers to pull plug on web

Les MacPherson writes:

Owners here and elsewhere have tried mightily to find a way to parlay online content into coin, but with minimal success. Less than 10 per cent of newspaper revenues come from the Internet. Meanwhile, readers are cancelling their subscriptions to the newsprint version, which generates 90 per cent of revenues, because they can get the same content for free online. Why would they pay for what they can get elsewhere for nothing? It's a question no one has been able to answer.
