Journal de Montreal standoff continues

They are the renegades of an industry in turmoil, 253 unionized workers fighting to keep something most Canadians could only dream of — a guarantee in their contract that says their employer can't lay them off. And they're damn proud of it.

For the better part of 10 months, locked-out journalists and office staff of the Journal de Montreal have been waging a public relations and business battle against their employer, media giant Quebecor Inc. Their adopted logo: A cannon. Their target: Pierre Karl Peladeau, Quebecor's chief executive, whose first summer job was at the Journal.
