Newspaper journalism not so easily replaced

Tammerlin Drummond writes:

A few years back, a movie came out called "A Day Without a Mexican."

Californians woke up one day to find that all of the Mexicans had mysteriously vanished. Suddenly, there was no one to pick fruit, wash cars, clean buildings or take care of other people's children. Those who had relied on Mexican immigrants — many of them illegal — to do their grunt work found themselves in the lurch.

I wonder what would happen if we all woke up one day and there were no more newspapers?
