A Weekly May Be Back from the Brink, After Fans Step Up

A few days ago, the Decoder wrote about The Birmingham Eccentric, a Gannett-owned weekly in Michigan that seemed destined to go the way of the Corvair. But something funny happened on the way to the junkyard. As the LedeObserver blog reports, a group of Birmingham residents, led by David Bloom, a Ford employee and local activist, and Linda Solomon, a nationally recognized photojournalist, pushed back on the demise of the print paper and may end up hearing that plop on the doorstep for many weeks to come.
