WATERVILLE Sentinel union OKs proposal that cuts wages 5%

Members of a union representing editorial workers at the Morning Sentinel voted overwhelmingly Thursday to approve a contract that could pave the way for Bangor native Richard Connor to buy Blethen Maine Newspapers.
The 12-1 vote followed a brief discussion by members of Portland Newspaper Guild's Local 128 about concessions requested by Connor.

The concessions include a 5 percent pay cut, a two-year freeze on wages and suspension of company contributions to employee pension and 401(k) plans.
