It's a new era, come Monday

Come Monday, a tradition ends at Lancaster Newspapers.

The Lancaster New Era will no longer land on porches or lawns in the afternoon. Instead, a new morning newspaper, the merged Intelligencer Journal-Lancaster New Era,will be delivered Monday through Saturday.

That staff will be made up of editors, reporters and photographers from both papers. But in a move that had to be made for business reasons, 100 full- and part-time employees across several departments lost their jobs.

The Sunday News retains its separate staff, as it has since its founding in 1923. There were no layoffs. We are a lean operation and did not always fill vacancies as staff members left.
