Journalism is undergoing a boom

Career wise, the prevalent scenario in journalism is a boom time, very much like it was in the immediate aftermath of the emergency in the mid-1970s, said Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of The Indian Express.

Delivering the eighth convocation address at the Indian Institute of New Media and Journalism (IIJNM) in Bangalore on Saturday, the renowned newsman opined that citizen journalism was all baloney.

“Show me a citizen lawyer or a citizen doctor and I’ll show you citizen journalists,” he said, adding that journalism was a profession like any of the other two.
