Newspaper industry hard on itself

Lisa Van De Hey writes:

As the national news focuses on the struggling economy and how newspapers are being affected, they are basically speaking of five bankrupt daily newspapers with around 100,000 to 200,000 circulation, and not the industry as a whole.

At the annual GateHouse Media Inc., Publishers Conference held last week in Chicago, Il., we were encouraged to not only reassure our staff who are being asked how our newspapers are doing, but also the community.

So they're only talking about five newspapers with a million in circ? Only?
Gatehouse is teetering on the brink, laying off, closing papers and this is just corprate candy-coating
