The Morning News cuts nine in newsroom, orders furloughs

The Morning News will change its standard format beginning Sunday, combining some sections each day. The changes, part of an ongoing effort to control expenses during the current economic downturn, will allow for a more efficient pressroom operation and greater flexibility in the number of pages produced.

The newspaper has also eliminated jobs across several departments, including nine positions in its newsroom. In addition, the paper will implement a limited furlough program for newsroom employees.
