AnnArbor.com forum gives readers a say in media venture

Local residents got a chance Thursday to meet face-to-face with the leaders of AnnArbor.com, the online-based news and information source that will be launched when The Ann Arbor News closes in late July.

Between 80 and 100 people attended the afternoon question-and-answer session at Weber's Inn in Ann Arbor. Another community forum was scheduled for this morning and two more are set for later in the month.

The new company, which will also print a twice weekly newspaper, was announced last week at the same time it was announced that The Ann Arbor News will cease publication.

The questions on Thursday ranged from how much local news will be available on the new site, to how it will be supported, to whether it will be available on Kindle or similar e-reader devices.
