A.H. Belo cuts 500 jobs, 200 at The Dallas Morning News

In job cuts that were largely completed Tuesday, The Dallas Morning News reduced its workforce by approximately 200 positions.

The cuts occurred across the entire organization and affected every department, according to John McKeon, president and general manager.

That includes various niche products and associated companies, such as the Denton Record-Chronicle; Al Día, a Spanish-language publication; and a printing operation called DFW Printing Co.

The cuts came as part of an overall reduction of 500 positions at The News' parent company, A.H. Belo Corporation.
