Newspaper giveaways appear to be profitable in short term in Turkey

Feeling the squeeze of the ongoing global economic crisis, which has devastated giant companies worldwide, almost all Turkish papers are running at least one promotional campaign, offering giveaways in a bid to generate new revenue and increase their sales, but the move only seems to be effective in the short term.

Cornered by the growing impact of the global financial turmoil, the Turkish media sector has been waging war against a decline in advertising revenue and sales and the skyrocketing costs of paper and ink through various measures, but it is hard to predict how long these measures will help them resist problems.
