Layoffs at Staunton's Daily News Leader

For the second day in a row, there are layoffs at a newspaper in our area. The Staunton-based Daily News Leader says it will cut its workforce by eight full-time employees and 15 part-timers.

Those changes come as the paper plans to outsource its printing operations to Harrisonburg. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect in mid-April.

The News Leader blames a downturn in ad sales.

Monday, the publisher for the Daily Progress in Albemarle shared it would be laying off six employees.
