DMGT ad revenue plunges as 1,000 jobs go at regional arm

Daily Mail and General Trust's advertising revenue for the first quarter of 2009 fell by 24% across its national newspaper division and 37% across its regional titles.

The publisher confirmed it expected a total of 1,000 job cuts across its regional newspaper division Northcliffe Media, bringing the headcount down by about 20% to 3,500, double the number of cuts it officially announced in November.
