Daily Review cuts staff Economic downturn cause of reduction

Times-Shamrock Communications has announced plans to reduce staffing through a combination of buyouts, layoffs, shortened work weeks, and attrition by up to 15 percent over the next two months because of the worsening economic climate.

Times-Shamrock has employed about 1,400 people at more than 40 locations throughout the United States and Virgin Islands, including 62 people at The Daily & Sunday Review/Towanda Printing Company. Staff at The Review and Towanda Printing Company has already been reduced by 17 percent. Cuts of varying amounts will occur at most of the company’s other properties.
