Sun Newspapers pulls plug on weekly in SE metro

Copies of the South St. Paul-Inver Grove Heights Sun Current will no longer be landing on the doorsteps of residents who live in the two communities in the southeast metro. Minnesota Sun Newspapers printed and delivered the last editions of the weekly publication today, the company said.

In a memo sent to Sun Newspapers employees announcing the decision to cease publication, company officials said cited the economy as one of the reasons for halting the presses. It also said that the communities no longer fits the "premium demographic criteria we employ for our advertisers" and the "region no longer fits with our targeted business strategy."
