News Web sites: Brother, can you spare a dime?

The Fargo-Moorhead Forum asks readers if they would pay for news online. Not surprisingly the No's are winning. But there is one positive comment (perhaps from a staff member):

What a bunch of freeloaders. You wouldn't go into Barnes and Noble and expect a free book, yet you have no problem accepting free content from the newspaper. No business can survive if it gives away its product. Yes, you can get certain news from other media, but what about obituaries, local feature stories, columnists, comprehensive sports coverage, etc.? I would gladly pay for online content if it means continuing to get information. The news doesn't write itself.
