Lee Enterprises restructures debt repayments

Lee Enterprises Inc., publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and 48 other daily newspapers, including The Montana Standard, said Thursday it has arranged to push out hundreds of millions of dollars in debt repayments until 2012 in a bid to conserve cash.

The changes are designed to help the Davenport, Iowa-based company get some breathing room from a series of big bills that were coming due, as the recession and shift in advertising dollars to the Internet continues to pummel the newspaper business.
