Kansas City Star plans more job cuts

More job cuts are in store for The Kansas City Star after its parent company announced a fourth-quarter loss and plans to cut up to $110 million in expenses.

In a memo to employees Thursday, Star Publisher Mark Zieman said that the newspaper was “still developing our plan to address these expense cuts. Unfortunately, we know these cuts will include job eliminations.

“But we are also exploring several other alternatives to limit the number of layoffs. We will share these details with you just as soon as they are final.”

The layoffs would mark the fourth time since June that The Star has cut jobs.
