Buffalo News may cut 52

Stan Lipsey, the publisher of the Buffalo News released a memo to News staffers on Friday stating that layoffs at the newspaper are likely due to tough economic conditions.

In the memo obtained by Eyewitness News, Mr. Lipsey outlines that "In an effort to stablize The News' economics, the executive team has been working diligently to reduce costs."

The memo goes on to note that up to 52 people "among Buffalo Newspaper Guild employees" may be laid off as a result. Those layoffs would be spread between editorial, classified advertising, accounting, and marketing.
