American Society of Newspaper Editors cancels '09 convention

American Society of Newspaper Editors will cancel its 2009 convention due to low attendance, according to an announcement posted Friday on Poynter Online, a journalism Web site. "But it became increasingly clear in recent weeks that our attendance would be low because editors need to be in their own newsrooms during this difficult time," the group said in a letter published by Poynter. The convention was scheduled to take place in Chicago during April 26-29.
