It’s not funny; comics feel economic pinch

Stew Rieckman, of the Oshkosh Northwestern, writes:

As the guy responsible for the daily comic page (among other things) in the Oshkosh Northwestern, I’ve got some bad news for you. Not all of you, just some of you.

This week we are saying good-bye to four comics that have been on our pages for the last three or four years. Leaving us on Monday will be ‘Lio’, ‘Pearls Before Swine’, ‘Get Fuzzy’ and ‘Close to Home.’ The elimination of comic strips became a necessity as we brace for a tough economic climate in 2009.
