Extra, Extra! Buyer Saves Connecticut Newspapers

The Bristol Press and The Herald of New Britain have been saved two weeks before they were scheduled to stop publishing.

Michael E. Schroeder, owner of Central Connecticut Communications, has entered into a letter of intent to buy the two daily papers, publisher Edward Gunderson said Tuesday.

The Journal Register Company owns the papers, which were to publish the last issues on Jan. 16.
