Community papers better positioned than the metros to address challenges

Brian Cooper writes:

In my opinion, community newspapers -- especially those with private ownership and without the profit expectations of Wall Street -- are in a stronger position to respond to those challenges. While our big-city brethren are going through incredible turmoil, newspapers in smaller markets (especially those that are tied into their customers) are better positioned to respond to market conditions and customer preferences.
