Report: Chicago Reader lays off another six

With another half-dozen layoffs last week, the Chicago Reader's editorial staff is now less than half the size it was when the free weekly newspaper was acquired by Creative Loafing Inc. just 17 months ago.

The Reader had a staff of 38 at the time of the debt-heavy deal. As Creative Loafing reorganizes under Chapter 11 protection, that number is just 17, according to Reader columnist Michael Miner's News Bites blog.
