London Free Press kills Sunday edition

One of southwestern Ontario's largest newspapers will stop printing a Sunday edition in the new year.

The London Free Press says a "tough" economy, among other factors, will see it put an end to the Sunday paper as of Dec. 28 and instead produce a larger weekend edition on Saturdays.

In a message to readers on the paper's website, publisher and CEO Susan Muszak notes the newspaper industry is evolving.

Muszak says that as the industry changes, the paper is committed to delivering information and entertainment in print and especially online.

The paper, she adds, "will continue to explore more timely and relevant ways to deliver the news to your door."

The Free Press, which has a more than 150-year history, has been producing a Sunday edition for the past decade.
